Aunt Lou here.

Growing up, we were a meat and potatoes family. This recipe combines two of my favorites…scalloped potatoes and ham steak! Mom always made ham steak with fried potatoes (and it is so good!), and I love any kind of cheesy potatoes. So when I saw this, I knew that it would be a recipe we would love.

I was happily surprised with how easily this all came together. I sliced up the potatoes and onion right into the crock pot and it all came together in no time!

I also made an adjustment on the recipe. Since Ryder and I really love cheese, I added a little bit more to this recipe. And boy was it good!

Ingredients for Crock Pot Scalloped Potatoes and Ham

  • 2 lbs cooked ham steak, cut into serving-size pieces
  • 8 potatoes, peeled and sliced
  • 1 onion, sliced
  • 10 slices American cheese
  • 10.5 oz can cream of celery soup

How to Make Scalloped Potatoes and Ham in a Slow Cooker

  1. Lightly spray your crock pot with cooking spray
  2. Layer half of your ham in your crock pot
  3. Top with half of your potato slices and onion
  4. Place half of your cheese slices on top (tear your pieces to fit on one layer)
  5. Repeat layering
  6. Spread your soup over everything
  7. Cover and cook on low for 6 hours or on high for 3 hours (the potatoes should be tender and the cheese bubbly)

Notes on Crock Pot Scalloped Potatoes and Ham

  • I used my Hamilton Beach Programmable Insulated Slow Cooker for this recipe. It was a cinch to clean up (which is always a good thing when you are working with cheese!). Your favorite 5-6 quart slow cooker would work as well.
  • Recipe adapted from Slow-Cooker Christmas Favorites
  • As with any of our recipes, calorie counts and nutritional information varies greatly depending on which products you choose to use when cooking this dish.
  • All slow cookers cook differently, so cooking times are always a basic guideline and should always be tested first in your own slow cooker and time adjusted as needed.
