Do you love cheesy potatoes and want a great recipe that is simple? These Deliciously Cheesy Crock Pot Potatoes from Gooseberry Patch’s 303 Simple & Satisfying Recipes are a must try!
Aunt Lou here.
I love just about anything with cheese in it, but cheesy potatoes hold a special place in my heart. I would LOVE it when momma would make her cheesy potatoes when I was growing up. So when I saw this Deliciously Cheesy Crock Pot Potatoes, I knew I had to give it a try!
Deliciously Cheesy Crock Pot Potatoes
You all know that I love a recipe that is super yummy AND easy. Welp, this Deliciously Cheesy Crock Pot Potatoes recipe delivers on both accounts! I love that I can throw it together in under 5 minutes! It cooks for 8 hours, but you do want to stir it occasionally, so the new stirring crock pot (which I don’t have yet…but you can win one if you click here!) would be great for this recipe if you aren’t going to be home with it all day!

Slow Cooker Recommendation
I made up these Deliciously Cheesy Crock Pot Potatoes in Cera (my 6 Quart Crock Pot with Ceramic Coated Pot). Anything cheesy (or just most of my recipes!) ends up in one of my easy-cleaning crock pots. You can use your favorite 5-6 quart slow cooker though.

I’m probably just missing something obvious (but I’m new to cooking, so please be kind) what are cans of French fried onions, please?
Hi Pamela!
They are the topping you often see on top of green bean casserole. You can usually find them near the canned veggies. French’s is a common brand of them. Hope that helps! Enjoy!
Can you add ham or other meats to make it a full meal?
Hi Linda,
I haven’t tried it, but that sounds like a great idea! Let me know how it turns out!
Aunt Lou
I would love to try Ham Soup in the new crockpot!
Thanks!
This sound so delicious! Can’t wait to try it.
You stated in the recipe the you add 2 12oz cans of evaporated milk, then you said to Violet that you don’t ass the evaporated milk. Not sure what to do.
Hi Ron!
Violet asked if she should add water to the soup and to the evaporated milk. I told her that she did not need to add water to the soup or evaporated milk. The recipe is correct. Enjoy!

The cheesy potatoes sound great but I can’t stand the canned french fried onions. (I know I’m the only one on the planet but I can’t help it). Can I use regular onions either diced or julienned and would it make a difference in the consistency?
Hi Jean!
I would just omit the onions completely if you don’t like french fried onions. Since I haven’t tried it with any other type, I am not sure what amount to tell you to put in of any other type of onion. It should taste great without the french fried onions as well! Enjoy!
Aunt Lou
Sounds super YUMMY! AND – a recipe that would work well for a holiday dinner!!! THANKS!
This cheesy crockpot potatoes sounds good I’m going to try it but are you talking about the southern style potatoes? And the cheddar cheese soup do you add water? And what about the evaporated milk you don’t add WATER? Thank your will rate it better after I make it
Hi Violet!
Yes, they are southern-style potatoes. I have updated the recipe. 🙂 And you do NOT add water to the soup or evaporated milk. Enjoy!
Aunt Lou
I would definitely make homemade chili. We are football fans, so I would start it on Saturday night, so it will be ready for the big game on Sunday.
