This simple Kitchen Sink Crock Pot Taco Casserole came about because one of our readers, Tammy, mentioned the idea of adding refried beans to the original recipe. I love refried beans and thought it was a wonderful suggestion. The results were a flavorful and hearty dish that my whole family enjoyed.

What is great about this recipe is that it is super easy to throw together and easily customizable for every person at your table. It can be thrown together in 15 minutes or less and cooks up so quickly. Plus, Each person can add whatever favorite taco toppings they want to their serving making everyone happy.

What You Will Need for Kitchen Sink Crock Pot Taco Casserole

Ingredients Needed

  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 oz packet taco seasoning
  • 15 oz can refried beans
  • 10.5 oz cheddar cheese soup
  • 3 cups frozen shredded hash browns
  • 1 cup shredded taco cheese
  • Optional garnish: diced tomato, diced onion, sour cream and any other favorite taco topping

Equipment Needed

Time Needed

  • Prep Time: 15 minutes
  • Cooking Time: 1 hour to 1 hour and 30 minutes on high, rotating your insert halfway through cooking if your slow cooker does not cook evenly
  • Optional Broiling Time: 1-3 minutes on high, watching it closely to make sure it does not burn

Ingredients

  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 2 cloves garlic minced
  • 1 oz packet taco seasoning
  • 15 oz Can Refried Beans
  • 10.5 oz cheddar cheese soup
  • 3 cups frozen shredded hashbrowns
  • 1 cup shredded taco style cheese
  • Optional Garnish: diced tomato, diced onion, sour cream and any other favorite taco topping

Instructions

  • Brown your ground beef with garlic and drain.
  • In a large bowl, mix remaining ingredients together, except shredded cheese, hash browns and garnish, and spread out in a lightly greased 6-quart crock pot or casserole crock pot.
  • Evenly sprinkle your shredded hash browns across everything.
  • Top with shredded cheese.
  • Cover and cook on low for 2 hours and 30 minutes to 3 hours or high for 1 hour and 15 minutes to 1 hour and 30 minutes hours
  • If desired and using a oven safe crock, place in broiler on high for 1-3 minutes, watching continually, until the top of the casserole has reached desired browning.

    My whole family loved this meal. I didn’t have refried beans on hand and replaced with pinto beans, and it was amazing.
