How to Make Meaty Tortellini in a Crock Pot

The other day, a friend of mine from college was telling me about a recipe he had made for dinner on his stove. It sounded really good and super easy to make in my crock pot, so I gave it a try. So, now you have this delicious Meaty Crock Pot Tortellini recipe. With two pounds of meat and 19 oz of tortellini in this dish, it is really hearty and filling.
In case you were wondering, everyone in my home loved this recipe. From my picky eater to my chef in training, they all went on and on about how much they loved this dish. It pairs perfectly with some yummy Air Fryer Cheesy Garlic Bread (Ninja Foodi).
What You Will Need for Meaty Crock Pot Tortellini
Ingredients Needed
- 1 lb ground beef
- 1 lb Italian sausage (I used mild, but you can choose mild or hot depending on your spiciness preference.)
- 4 teaspoons minced garlic
- 24 oz jar marinara sauce
- 1/2 cup beef broth
- 1/2 teaspoon Italian seasoning
- 19 oz bag frozen cheese tortellini, kept frozen
- 1 cup fresh grated parmesan cheese
- 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
Equipment Needed
- Large skillet and strainer or large micro cooker
- Meat chopper
- Garlic press
- Measuring cups
- Measuring spoon
- Handheld cheese grater
- Stirring spatula
- 6 Quart Crock Pot
Time Needed
- Prep Time: 15 minutes
- Cooking Time: 2 to 3 hours on low or 1 hour to 1 hour and 30 minutes on high, stirring halfway through the cooking time to ensure everything cooks evenly

Meaty Crock Pot Tortellini
Ingredients
- 1 lb ground beef
- 1 lb ground Italian sausage (I used mild, but you can choose mild or hot depending on your spiciness preference.)
- 4 teaspoons minced garlic
- 24 oz Marinara Sauce
- 1/2 cup beef broth
- 1/2 teaspoon Italian Seasoning
- 19 oz bag frozen cheese tortellini
- 1 cup fresh grated parmesan cheese
- 1 cup Shredded Mozzarella Cheese
Instructions
- In a large skillet or micro cooker, brown and drain 1 lb ground beef and 1 lb ground Italian sausage together.
- While your beef and sausage are cooking, add 4 teaspoons minced garlic, 19 oz bag frozen cheese tortellini, 24 oz Marinara Sauce and 1/2 teaspoon Italian Seasoning to your 6 Quart Crock Pot.
- Use the 1/2 cup beef broth to rinse out the marinara sauce jar and pour in the crock pot.
- Pour the browned and drained beef and sausage in the crock pot and stir until everything is well combined.
- Cover and cook on low for 1-1.5 hours or high for 30-45 minutes, stir everything well and sprinkle 1 cup fresh grated parmesan cheese and 1 cup Shredded Mozzarella Cheese evenly on top of everything.
- Cover and cook on low for an additional 1-1.5 hours or high for an additional 30-45 minutes. It is done when your cheese is melted.
