How to Make Zuppa Toscana Soup in a Ninja Foodi Using the Electric Pressure Cooker Feature

Aunt Lou here.

We had a family get together recently, and it everyone was bringing a soup to share. Cris brought this Ninja Foodi Zuppa Toscana Soup, and my family loved it. I thought I would give it a try at my house, and it was devoured. It is not a dump and go recipe, because it requires some prep work, but I promise you that the end result is worth it. My kids ate kale (even my picky eater) and were happy to do so!

When making a recipe in any electric pressure cooker, Ninja Foodi included, it takes some time to come up to pressure, usually around 15 minutes for my altitude. With using the sautรฉ feature to cook the sausage, bacon, onion and garlic, my Ninja Foodi actually came up to pressure in about 5 to 7 minutes. So, not only does using the Ninja Foodi for cooking all that together make it so you have less dishes, it also lessens the time to come up to pressure since the insert and heating element are already hot. Win, win!

(If you would prefer to make this recipe in a crock pot, you can find the crock pot version of this recipe here.)

General Notes

  • We’ve tested this recipe in a 6 quart Instant Pot and 6.5 quart Ninja Foodi. When pressure cooking with larger pressure cookers, you may need to add 1/2 cup to 1 cup more liquid to reach pressure. Make sure not to overfill smaller pressure cookers past their max lines.

  • As with any of our recipes, carb counts, calorie counts and nutritional information varies greatly. As a result, your nutritional content depends on which products you choose to use when cooking this dish. The auto-calculation is just an automated estimate and should NOT be used for specific dietary needs.
  • Finally, all electric pressure cookers cook differently, so cooking times are always a basic guideline. Recipes should always be tested first in your own electric pressure cooker and time adjusted as needed.

  • Stir in 4 cups chicken broth, scraping the bottom of the pan to remove any brown bits.
  • Add 1 cup potatoes (cut into bite size pieces), and put the lid on, set to seal.
  • Set the electric pressure cooker to high pressure for 30 minutes with the warming feature turned off.
