How to Make Beefy Cheesy Hash Browns in a Crock Pot

I read a comment recently from a reader, Pam, where she gave us one of her recipes. It sounded super yummy, but I wanted to beef it up (pun intended 😉 ). So, now you have this yummy Beefy Cheesy Crock Pot Hash Brown recipe.
This is a pretty quick recipe to throw together. The longest part of the recipe prep is browning and draining the ground beef. If you want to make this a dump, stir and go recipe, you can use our Crock Pot Make Ahead Ground Beef. We love having this on hand for easy recipe prep. It is also something we love to do when we find ground beef on sale and need to freeze it. Win win!
Another great thing about this recipe is that it can be served as a main dish or, in smaller portions, be served as a hearty side dish. I am all for recipes that are versatile!
What You Will Need
Ingredients Needed
- 1 lb ground beef, browned and drained
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 30 oz frozen shredded hash browns, kept frozen
- 21 oz cheddar cheese soup (2 – 10.5 oz cans)
- 12 oz evaporated milk
- salt to taste
Equipment Needed
- Skillet and strainer or micro cooker
- Measuring spoon
- Can opener
- Spoon (One you can get into your soup can to make sure you get it all out.)
- Wooden spoon
- 6 quart slow cooker
Time Needed
- Prep Time: 12 minutes (It will take less time if you use our Crock Pot Make Ahead Ground Beef.)
- Cooking Time: 3 to 4 hours on low or 1.5 to 2 hours on high (Turning your insert halfway through cooking if your slow cooker does not cook evenly.)

Beefy Cheesy Crock Pot Hash Browns
Ingredients
- 1 lb ground beef browned and drained
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 30 oz frozen shredded hashbrowns kept frozen
- 21 oz Cheddar cheese soup (2 – 10.5 oz cans)
- 12 oz can evaporated milk
- salt to taste
Instructions
- Mix together all your ingredients in a 6 quart slow cooker until well combined.
- Cover and cook on low for 3-4 hours or high for 1.5-2 hours, turning your insert halfway through cooking if your unit does not cook evenly.
