Meal Planning on a Budget

Aunt Lou here.

Another week is rolling around, so that means time to make another budget meal plan! For Budget Meal Plan: Week 48, we are going to use a simple trick. We are going to use recipes that utilize canned foods. From canned chicken, pork or beef to canned potatoes, tomatoes, carrots and more. There is such a wide variety of foods available in canned form that can come together to make some delicious meals!

In all honesty, I did not even know that things like canned beef and pork existed before a reader wrote to us asking for recipes that use canned meat. I had made one recipe with canned chicken before, so I was aware that chicken had a canned option, but I did not know that canned beef and canned pork were even options. Since meat and vegetables that are canned tend to be cheaper (and last longer on the shelf) than their non-canned counterparts, I love using cans to make budget friendly recipes. After receiving that email, I tried out many recipes using canned meat, and we were thrilled with the results!
