How to Make Creamed Chicken Sandwiches in a Slow Cooker

Aunt Lou here.

I recently used canned chicken for the first time in these Cheesy Chicken Stacks over on Goodeness Gracious. I was a little skeptical, but decided to give it a try…and it was delicious! So when I ran across this recipe, I didn’t hesitate to put in on my list of recipes to make! And well, the fact that it also has cream of chicken soup in it…and I love cream of chicken soup…didn’t hurt either. 😉

As we head into football season, there are going to be lots and lots of game day parties and get-togethers. I am always looking for something to bring that doesn’t take all day long to make, but will still wow the crowd. (People ha This Crock Pot Creamed Chicken Sandwich recipe is super simple to throw together. Seriously. If you blink, you might miss the prep time for this yumminess.

If I want to cook my own chicken breast, would I cook 50 ounces (3# appox) of uncooked chicken ?

I haven’t made this recipe with cooking my own chicken. If I did, I would probably cook around 2.5 lbs of chicken for this recipe since canned chicken has a lot of water in it. If you give it a try, let me know how it goes!

No one mentioned if the flavor was good.

What kind of pickles do you recommend?

If I need to boost the flavor what should I use?

      Hi Sherry!

We loved the flavor of this recipe how it is. We served it with dill pickle slices. Enjoy!

It is typically by the other canned meats. Our Ruler Foods had the huge 50 oz can or 10 oz cans. If your store doesn’t carry the 50 oz can, just grab 5 of the 10 oz cans.

Looks like a great football Sunday recipe, but I have to ask, where do you find a 50oz can of chicken?
