How to Make Cream Cheese French Toast Casserole in a Crock Pot

Aunt Lou here.

So I tried a little something this weekend at Camp Lou-da-Cris. I took my Slow Cooker French Toast Casserole recipe and added in the “marble” from my Crock Pot Marble Brownies and put it together. The result is this delicious Cream Cheese Crock Pot French Toast Casserole. It is so yummy!

There was a divide at camp, so I will let you decide which side of the divide you fall on. Michael, Ryder and Iyla thought this yummy dish was better topped with pancake syrup. While, Dad, Momma and I all loved it without pancake syrup. Fear not, everyone can doctor their serving up to their liking.

Now, if you are anything like me, you might skim a recipe when you read it. (Not my best quality, I admit.) So, if you are reading this, take note: this recipe needs to sit for a while so the egg mixture can soak into the bread.

Also, you do need the extra large bowl. I tried this once with letting it soak in the slow cooker instead of a separate bowl, it gave me a layer of egg mixture cooking up on the bottom of the crock pot. So, do not do that. Trust me on this one.

I donโ€™t know what happened but the bottom burned to a crisp but the cream cheese mixture didnโ€™t melt. I mixed it till it was pourable but still had very small chunks. It stayed with the little lumps.

Oh no! I’m not sure what happened here either. I wonder if your crock pot was working properly. You might try this recipe again with a different slow cooker.
