How to Make Bowtie Lasagna in a Crock Pot

Aunt Lou here.

We are revisiting our tried and true recipes, and I thought this Crock Pot Bowtie Lasagna would be a great recipe with which to start. This recipe is so easy to put together, cooks up quickly and tastes delicious! Even better, in this house, it was picky eater approved! My non-picky eaters also loved this recipe. I received a, “Good job, Mom! This is great!” from all members of my family. This recipe is definitely a keeper.

I did make a small change to the original recipe. There isn’t anything wrong with the original recipe, I just thought it might be good to try a little more cottage cheese on both cottage cheese layers and see how we liked it. The result was wonderful! You can’t go wrong with either one of these recipes.

I want to try this, perhaps this weekend. It looks so delicious! But I do have a question; do you add any seasoning to the meat when it’s frying? I’m wondering if I should add something to it, like Italian seasoning or maybe just salt and pepper.

I did not add anything to the ground beef as I was cooking it, but you can if you would like. We always encourage our readers to adapt our recipes to fit their tastes. If you give it a try, let me know how it goes!

  3. Can you use ricotta cheese in place of the cottage cheese Iโ€™m not a fan of cottage cheese? Thanks

I haven’t tried this recipe with ricotta but think it might be pretty good. If you give it a try, let me know how it goes!

For the lasagna recipe what happens if you don’t cook the pasta ahead of time and just put the dry pasta in the crockpot covered with the second layer.
