How to Make Chicken Mozzarella Sliders in a Crock Pot
Aunt Lou here.
Have you ever been at a party where they have those yummy ham and Swiss cheese sliders? They are always a hit at every party where I have ever seen them. This Crock Pot Chicken Mozzarella Sliders recipe takes that classic recipe and gives it a new twist. My family and I love them!
So, you may notice in the recipe there is an option for shredded mozzarella or mozzarella slices. This choice was born out of necessity. You see, I wanted to make these sandwiches with mozzarella slices like I have done in the ham and Swiss recipe. However, my grocery store was out of mozzarella slices. So instead of driving to a different town for one ingredients, I thought I would give shredded cheese a try. It worked just as beautifully and saved me a trip to the next town over. Win, win! You can use either one, depending on your preferences and availability.

Crock Pot Chicken Mozzarella Sliders
Ingredients
- 12 Hawaiian rolls kept together and not broke apart
- 1/2 lb thinly sliced deli chicken
- 1 cup Shredded Mozzarella Cheese OR 8 slices of mozzarella cheese
- 1/2 cup Butter melted
- 1 teaspoon dijon mustard
- 1 teaspoon poppy seeds
- 1/2 teaspoon dried minced onions
- 1/2 teaspoon Worcestershire Sauce
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon Pepper
Instructions
- Place all the rolls on a large cutting board and take a large knife to slice all your rolls in half at the same time (do not break them apart) and gently remove the tops as one big piece.
- Layer chicken slices on the bottom halves of the rolls that are still all connected.
- Sprinkle shredded mozzarella evenly over chicken or lay mozzarella slices evenly across the top of the chicken.
- As one piece, place the top halves of your rolls back on top of the bottom part of the sliders.
- Pick up the cutting board and gently slide the sliders as one large loaf off the cutting board and into a casserole crock pot.
- In a small bowl or coffee cup, mix together remaining ingredients.
- Brush the tops of the sliders with the butter mixture liberally with a basting brush.
- Cover and cook on high for 1.5 to 2 hours, turning your insert halfway through if your slow cooker doesn't cook evenly.
- If desired, and your insert is broiler safe, place your rolls on the lower rack in your oven with your broiler on high for 30-60 seconds to crisp up the tops. (Watch continually and do not walk away. You can go from perfection to burnt very quickly in a broiler.)
- Cut the sliders apart and serve
