Dear readers, this Crock Pot Pumpkin Pie Oatmeal is incredibly delicious, like blew my expectations out of the water delicious. You are going to love the taste and how simple it is to make! So, if you like pumpkin pie, then you want to try this recipe.
This recipe came about when one of our wonderful readers, Sharon, asked if we had a pumpkin oatmeal recipe. Lo and behold, we did not, and I was happy to try one out for you great folks.
So, if you have seen most of our other oatmeal recipes, they use steel cut oats. I planned on using steel cut oats for this recipe. However, I went to three stores and all three were out of steel cut oats! I actually bought some thinking I had finally found them, and when I got home discovered they were quick cook steel cut oats. I figured it was just a good reason to do something I had always wanted to do, try cooking old fashioned oats in the crock pot! This is was a fun experiment that turned out super yummy! And the leftovers are just as delicious if you want to make it ahead of time!
What You Will Need
Ingredients Needed
- 1 cup old fashioned oats
- 1/2 cup brown sugar
- 15 oz can pure pumpkin (no seasonings)
- 1.5 teaspoon pumpkin pie spice
- 1.75 cup milk
- Optional: whipped cream for garnish
Equipment Needed
- Measuring cups
- Measuring spoon
- Can opener
- Heat safe glass bowl
- Spoon
- 6 quart slow cooker
Time Needed
- Prep Time: 5 minutes
- Cooking Time: 3 to 4 hours on low or 1.5 to 2 hours on high (stirring once or twice during cook time)

Crock Pot Pumpkin Pie Oatmeal
Ingredients
- 1 cup old fashioned oats
- 1/2 cup brown sugar packed
- 15 oz can pumpkin puree
- 1.5 teaspoon pumpkin pie spice
- 1.75 cup milk
- whipped cream optional garnish
Instructions
- In a heat safe glass bowl that fits in your 6 quart crock pot, mix together all of your ingredients, except the optional whipped cream, until well combined
- Place the bowl in your slow cooker and fill the slow cooker insert with water approximately half way up the outside of the bowl containing your ingredients (aka the double broiler method)
- Cover and cook on low for 3-4 hours or on high for 1.5-2 hours, stirring once or twice while cooking and stirring well once done cooking
- If desired, serve topped with whipped cream

Possibly. I have not tried it and haven’t ever made old fashioned oats in an instant pot, so I don’t have a recommendation on time. If you give it a try, let me know how it goes!
