Below is a post we did with Cans Get You Cooking a while back when they asked me to share with you a little about how my pantry helps me feed my family on busy school days. I thought it might come in handy for those of us that are trying to cook through things we might already have on hand.

I have always been a big fan of the convenience canned food offers me. By maintaining a well stocked pantry, I have a lot of options even when I do not have a lot of time. Aside from convenience, I also love the kind of flavors you can add to a dish straight from the can. Substituting chicken broth for water will almost always take the flavor up a notch in any crock pot recipe. Additionally, there are many canned beans, tomatoes, corn, etc. that have delicious additions like garlic, onion, basil, peppers, chilies and more already added into the can.
I love using these kinds of ingredients to make a nutritious home cooked meal for my family even when our schedules are crazy. But how does the nutritional content of canned foods stack up to their frozen and fresh counterparts? Studies conducted by researchers at Michigan State University, UC Davis and Oregon State University all concluded that canned foods have similar (or better) nutritional profiles as their fresh or frozen equivalents.

“Cream of….” soups are always on hand. Looking forward to trying the Spanish rice recipe.
I keep lots in my pantry, several kinds of beans, hominy, corn, beets, mushrooms, green peas and blackeyed peas, and more. I also have lots of other things in there as well. I would like to make the fiesta slow cooker pork chops, love pork chops.
I keep canned tomatoes and soups in my stash.

I have creamed soups, beans, broths, and coconut milk, several other things, I really want to try the french onion soup.
Whole Cranberry Sauce so I can make oatmeal in my Crockpot. I would like to try the Catalina Chicken Thigh.
Oh my, always have canned veggies on hand – peas, corn, spinach, mushrooms, tomatoes and tomato sauce, as well as canned beans – kidney, pinto, and black beans, and dried pasta too – spaghetti and egg noodles. Use a combination of any of these ingredients for soup or a casserole, can be real time savers.
I always have peas, cream of chicken and mushroom soups. I want to try the Spanish Rice and the mac and cheese recipe
Am wanting to make your Fiesta Mac N Cheese and the Crock Pot Party Beans. They are making my mouth water!
