Below is a post we did with Cans Get You Cooking a while back when they asked me to share with you a little about how my pantry helps me feed my family on busy school days. I thought it might come in handy for those of us that are trying to cook through things we might already have on hand.

I have always been a big fan of the convenience canned food offers me. By maintaining a well stocked pantry, I have a lot of options even when I do not have a lot of time. Aside from convenience, I also love the kind of flavors you can add to a dish straight from the can. Substituting chicken broth for water will almost always take the flavor up a notch in any crock pot recipe. Additionally, there are many canned beans, tomatoes, corn, etc. that have delicious additions like garlic, onion, basil, peppers, chilies and more already added into the can.
I love using these kinds of ingredients to make a nutritious home cooked meal for my family even when our schedules are crazy. But how does the nutritional content of canned foods stack up to their frozen and fresh counterparts? Studies conducted by researchers at Michigan State University, UC Davis and Oregon State University all concluded that canned foods have similar (or better) nutritional profiles as their fresh or frozen equivalents.

I have chicken broth, corn, green bean, beans, tomato sauce ,tomato bites sauce.
I always have several different kinds of pastas, rice, and frozen hash browns for casseroles/crock pot recipes. I’ve always tried to keep those staples on hand, for when I want to make one of your recipes without going to the store. I have mentioned several things I usually have on hand, in different posts. My next recipe I’d like to try is your pot roast. As always, I want to say how much I enjoy Goode ole boy’s videos! Love them!
I have canned chicken soup, mushroom soup, and chicken stock, and beef stock. I would love to try your fiesta mac and cheese.
I always have cream of mushroom soup stewed toma toes and tuna on hand. I would like to try Spanish rice
I can’t wait to have an electric pressure pot and use some stock from the cupboard

always have tomatoes, green beans & creamed soups I know I can use these in so many things and can always throw chicken & creamed soup in crockpot and always comes out wonderful, perfect when I don’t feel like thinking – always a winner and always easy. I always have an abundant supply of canned vegetables, broths, evaporated milk & soups in my pantry. I am planning on trying Crock Pot Italian Chicken, but since I don’t have a working slow cooker, will most like attempted baking in the oven.
I always have canned veggies on hand to add to recipes late in the cooking time.
I’m always looking for more turkey recipes as there aren’t as many around as there are other foods and we love turkey!

I have pasta sauce on hand for spaghetti. I’d like to try making in with tomatoes and spices. I read a recipe for putting the uncooked spaghetti, tomatoes, onion, garlic, etc. in the slo-cooker and that’s all there was to it!

Just bought groceries and when putting up the pantry items, I noticed that I have a can of sliced water chestnuts….so good in casseroles.
Still planning on trying the Spanish rice.
