Instant Pot Ham and Beans Notes
- If all your beans are not as tender as you like when the cooking time is over and your liquid is all soaked up or you would just like to have more liquid in with your beans, add in more liquid and stir, seal and cook under high pressure for an additional 8 minutes. Natural release for 5 minutes and then quick release.
- This recipe makes a ton, but the leftovers are so good, you’ll want a ton! However, if you want less, you can cut the recipe in half and lessen your cooking time.
- I used a 6 quart Instant Pot to make this recipe. Using an electric pressure cooker is a great convenience in the kitchen, but ALWAYS follow your manufacturerโs recommendations for safety.
- If using a smaller pot, you may need to reduce the recipe to avoid overflow. If using a larger pot, you may need to add additional liquid.
- Also, DO NOT EVER cover the vent of your electric pressure cooker.

How do you turn off the warming option?
Hi Tessa!
All you have to do is hit the manual button twice, and the light for the Keep Warm feature should turn off. Enjoy!
Aunt Lou
On mine you just hit the warm button itself and it turns off. !
There should be a button on your instapot, it normally says “keep warm”
As soon as you set your temp on the pot, click that button off.
Hope this helps.
Do you pre-soak beans?
You will want to rinse and sort the beans, but they do not need pre-soaked. Enjoy!
