Aunt Lou here.

We love this maple recipe…whether you want to cRock it up with our Crock Pot Maple Beef Roast or Crock Pot Maple Beef Brisket or you need to make a quick meal up with our Instant Pot Maple Beef Roast, I bet you will love it too! It is sweet with a kick or you can cut back on the pepper to make it tamer. Whichever way you want it (I have made it spicy and non-spicy), you will have a delectable dish on your table!

How to Make Maple Beef Roast in an Instant Pot

Mix together your salt and peppers in a small bowl, rub mixture all over your roast and place in a resealable bag. Put your remaining ingredients in a bowl, stir until well combined and pour into the bag with your roast. Place your roast in your fridge for at least 2 hours or overnight (flip the bag a few times during the marinating). Place your roast in your 6-quart Instant Pot. Cook at high pressure on manual for 60 minutes. Do not allow warming cycle to kick on.

Instant Pot Maple Beef Roast Notes:

  • When I have wanted to make this recipe without such a kick, but still wonderful flavor, I have cut both the red pepper and black pepper amounts in half.
  • If you can’t marinade your roast, you can just put your roast in your Instant Pot, mix together your remaining ingredients and pour over your roast and cook per recipe. However, it is even better when you have time to marinade it!
  • Any 6 quart electric pressure cooker will work, you may just need to use one of the preset features to get your unit set to high pressure for 60 minutes.
  • We prefer to use chuck roasts with a nice white marble for our roast recipes. Roasts get more tender the longer you cook them. If it isn’t tender, it isn’t done. Keep on cookin’.
  • Cooking time is in addition to the time it takes for the unit to reach pressure. Times may vary to reach pressure.
  • If you would like to use a 5 lb roast, increase cooking time to 90 minutes.
  • As with any of our recipes, calorie counts and nutritional information varies greatly depending on which products you choose to use when cooking this dish.

Do you natural release or quick release the pressure once cook time is done?

I would natural release for 15 minutes, at the very least, before quick release. If you have time, a full natural release would work too.

This looks delicious and I’m going to try it out this weekend. Question, though. Is that enough liquid for the Instant Pot to heat up and pressurize without getting an error? Thank you!

      HI Eric!

It worked well for me, but if you are at a higher altitude then Indiana that you might want to add 1/2 cup of beef broth.

      Enjoy!
