How to Make Sweet and Savory Breakfast Bread Pudding in a Crock Pot

Ladies and Gents, this Sweet and Savory Crock Pot Bread Pudding is as fabulous as the name is long! Oh my word! It is just the perfect mix of sweet, salty and savory. I wasn’t sure when I saw the recipe that inspired this recipe. I gave it a try anyway, and man oh man I am glad I did! It was a HUGE hit with the family while we were camping this weekend! I am betting it will be a big hit with you and your friends and family as well! Yum!
When our family gets together, you can imagine the amazing food that is served! There are so many great recipes, it is hard to know which one is a real show stopper. Well, this one was definitely a family favorite! Yum!
What You Will Need
Ingredients Needed for Sweet and Savory Breakfast Bread Pudding
- 1 lb breakfast sausage, browned and drained
- 6 large eggs
- 1 lb loaf of raisin cinnamon bread, cubed
- 1/2 tablespoon vanilla
- 1 cup milk
- 1 cup half and half
- 3/4 teaspoon cinnamon
Ingredients Needed for Sweet and Savory Breakfast Bread Pudding Tipping
- 1 cup chopped pecans
- 1/2 cup butter, softened
- 1 cup packed brown sugar
- 2 tablespoons maple syrup
Equipment Needed
- Skillet
- Colander or strainer (I LOVE my on pot strainer)
- Sharp knife
- Cutting board
- Measuring cups
- Measuring spoons
- Large bowl
- Whisk (or fork in a pinch)
- Small bowl
- Mixer (or spoon and a really strong arm 😉 )
- Casserole Crock Pot or 6 quart slow cooker
Time Needed
- Prep Time: 10 minutes
- Refrigeration Time: Several hours or overnight
- Cooking Time: 1.5 hours to 2 hours on high

Sweet and Savory Crock Pot Breakfast Bread Pudding
Ingredients
- 1 lb mild ground breakfast sausage browned and drained
- 1 lb loaf raisin cinnamon bread cubed
- 6 large eggs
- 1/2 tablespoon vanilla
- 1 cup milk
- 1 cup half and half
- 3/4 teaspoon cinnamon
- 1 cup chopped pecans
- 1/2 cup butter softened
- 1 cup brown sugar packed
- 2 tablespoons maple syrup
Instructions
- In a large bowl, whisk your eggs
- Whisk in your vanilla, milk, half and half and cinnamon
- Put your bread cubes in the bottom of your casserole crock or 6 quart crock
- Sprinkle your ground sausage evenly over the top
- Pour your egg mixture evenly over everything
- Refrigerate overnight or for 6-8 hours
- After refrigeration, in a small bowl, beat together your softened butter, brown sugar, pecans and maple syrup
- Place spoonfuls of the topping mixture evenly across the top of your bread pudding.
- Cover and cook on high for 90 minutes to 2 hours, turning your insert halfway through if your slow cooker doesn't cook evenly
