Budget Meal Plan

Meal Planning on a Budget

Aunt Lou here.

So, I had a little bit different idea for Budget Meal Plan: Week 23. This week we are going to be saving money by shopping sales. If you watch the sale prices, the savings can really add up. For instance, this week, chicken was half price. Score! While other ingredients weren’t priced at quite as steep of a discount, adding all the savings together makes a difference. I realize that what is on sale in my hometown grocery store may not be what is on sale in your favorite grocery store. Don’tt worry one bit though, because I’ll give you a meal plan and the tools to adjust it to what is available on sale in your area.

This week, my local grocery store had a great sale on chicken. So, I knew that had to be a part of my menu. They also had some of the other ingredients included in this week’s menu on sale. If your favorite grocery store has different items on sale, you can use our handy Recipe Index. (You can find the Recipe Index (or Recipe Finder, as some of our readers call it) here. If you would like to watch a video where Cris and Mikey explain how to use this awesome feature on our site, you can watch that video here.) With this great tool, you can look at what items are on sale at your local store, and then you can look up recipes that have those ingredients in them.
