Budget Meal Plan

Meal Planning on a Budget

Aunt Lou here.

For Budget Meal Plan: Week 37, we are going to be using the money saving trick I use the most. We are going to be using generic ingredients and buying things from a discount grocery store as much as we can. Admittedly, I started doing this not by choice. I live in a small rural community (less than 4,000 people and the town is surrounded by farm land). We used to have a name brand grocery store AND a discount grocery store in town, but the name brand store closed down a few years ago. Since I then had to drive at least one town away to go to a name brand grocery store, I started doing almost all of my grocery shopping at the discount store. It was then that I discovered just how much money we could save by buying the generic and discount brands.

I tried to pick out some recipes that everyone would love. However, I know all too well that different people like and dislike different things. I am a picky eater and so is my youngest. I get it. So, if you need to switch out some of the recipes for the personal tastes in your home, check out our Recipe Finder. Using our Recipe Finder, you can search through our entire library of recipes to find just the right recipe for you.
