How to Make Chicken Tenders with Gravy in a Crock Pot

Aunt Lou here.

If you are looking for a super simple recipe that has great flavor, Crock Pot Chicken Tenders with Gravy is it! This recipe is a chicken version of our beloved Easy Crock Pot Peppered Beef Tips recipe.

There is just something wonderful about a recipe that makes getting dinner on the table a snap. This isn’t exactly a dump and go recipe since you are stirring up the soups with your gravy mix, but after that quick step, dump and go!

When you are adding pepper to taste to a recipe, make sure you do not overdo it (same goes for salt). You can always add more later, but you can’t take it back out.

Michael was my first taste tester on this recipe. I fed him this while he was home for lunch. It made me smile when I heard him exclaim from the other room, “Wow! This is REALLY good!” Considering he was skeptical of how all the ingredients would come together with chicken, I would say I made a believer out of him. ๐Ÿ˜‰

  1. Can I use chicken thighs instead?

    1. 5 stars
I haven’t tried this recipe with chicken thighs, but I think it could work. Since the thighs are larger than the tenders, I would watch it closely the first time I made it and allow for a longer cooking time if needed. If you give it a try, let me know how it goes!

My husband loved this. So super easy to make. It will be added to our rotation.

Family loved the recipe. I didnโ€™t have the French onion soup on hand so I subbed beef consume and a package of dry French onion soup mix. Worked out great! Thanks for the easy recipe. Will definitely be using it again and again. Lol

Great job making this recipe work with what you had on hand! I’m so glad you enjoyed this recipe. Thank you so much for letting us know.

  4. I have a 6 quart slow cooker. Do I have to modify the recipe in any way?

    1. 5 stars
Using a larger slow cooker will shorten the cooking time. Make sure you watch it closely the first time you make it so you can adjust the cooking time as needed. Enjoy!

  5. Julieann Gravius says:

Ok silly question. Can I just cut chicken breast into smaller pieces since I donโ€™t have tenders on hand ? I am excited to try this tonight !!

  6. Ike Johnson says:

Can I just mix (prepared) noddles into crockpot when chicken is done?

    1. 5 stars
I haven’t tried mixing the noodles in, but think it could work if you think are going to eat all of it in the first time. I worry that the noodles might get mushy if they are stored in the gravy and then reheated. If you give it a try, let me know how it goes!

Does this call for any water? Do you just mix the soups and gravy mix together without any water?

No water needed Wayne! You are correct. Just mix together your soups and gravy. Those with the cooking juices from the chicken will give you a wonderful gravy. Enjoy!
