How to Make Cream Cheese Butter Cake in a Crock Pot

Aunt Lou here.

My dear, precious reader, the Sugar Princess has a major treat for you today! This Crock Pot Cream Cheese Butter Cake is beyond good! It is ahhhhh-mazing!

So this recipe came about because I was looking for something to make to satisfy everyone’s sweet tooth at a family camping weekend. And, satisfy it did! Oh. My. Yum. This cake was absolutely devoured by everyone.

If you are going to a potluck dinner, this is your recipe to bring. If you want a delectable treat to have at your home, this is your recipe. Seriously folks, this recipe is just absolutely amazing. The cake is so moist. The cream cheese icing is wonderful. The cream cheese mixed with a butter cake is just divine. This cake does not disappoint!

As always, when baking a cake, do NOT use your brand new slow cooker that you have never used before. Use a crock pot you know how it cooks. If it is one of those that cooks super hot, it will burn your edges and your middle won’t be done. For any crock pot cake recipe, pull out your trusty ol’ crock pot…the one you know exactly how it cooks. I have a 4 shelves of slow cookers and use 2-3 for cakes. That’s it. You want to go with the one you trust.

This is amazing. I don’t even use the icing. We just eat the cake.

This was my first attempt. Iโ€™m not a crockpot user very often. I had to cut off the burnt edges.
Literally, just got done icing it. I put it in the refrigerator since the icing was too soft.
Iโ€™ll try it again in the future.
Can this cake be done in an oven? Best-Bob

Aww man! That stinks! It sounds like your crock pot cooks hot. I have some that do that. I would recommend not using it for baking in the crock pot. (I have literally done the exact same recipe in two different crock pots and ended up having one with horribly burnt edges and the other perfect. The crock pot that burnt the edges has now been banned from “baking” in my kitchen!)

As for the oven, I have not tried making this in the oven yet. My best advice would be to follow the baking instructions on the cake mix box, but also watching it VERY closely the first time you make it so you can make adjustments as needed. I will add this to my list of recipes to try in the oven.
