How to Make Ham and Beans for Two in a Crock Pot

Aunt Lou here.

It has been a hectic week ya’ll. We all have them. When I have one of these weeks, I love to make up some good ol’ comfort food. I figured it was a good time for me to convert one of all-time favorite recipes into this Crock Pot Ham and Beans for Two. This recipe gives you two hearty servings that will fill you up. As an added bonus, it is super quick and easy to throw together.

Every time I post a recipe with dried beans, I include the step to sort them along with rinsing them. While I, personally, have never found a pebble in my dried beans, I have heard from many readers that they have. So, I always check my beans just in case. I figure it is better safe than sorry!

(If you think this recipe sounds amazing, but you need to feed more than two people, I have you covered. You can find the original recipe with six hearty servings here.)

  1. Hi, Lou!! Iโ€™ve been making a list of all your โ€˜For Twoโ€™ recipes that I want to tryโ€ฆ which is about 95% of them!! Thank you so much for posting them. On this recipe, I checked the ingredients for the original recipe (1#of beans), and they both say to use a cup of ham. Shouldnโ€™t it be about 1/4-1/3 cup for the โ€˜For Twoโ€™ version?? Please clarifyโ€ฆ Thanks!!

I’m so glad you are enjoying the For Two recipes! As for this recipe, I tried it with 1/2 a cup of ham and with 1 cup of ham. I liked the meatier version, so that is what I put on here, but if you would like to make it with 1/2 cup of ham, that works too! Enjoy!

I gave this recipe a try because it seemed so easy and there was no chopping. It was surprisingly very good. I didn’t have northern beans, but used pinto beans instead. And also, added a small sliced carrot to
add a little more color. It was delicious.
