How to Make Sausage Cheesy Penne in a Crock Pot

This amazing Crock Pot Sausage Cheesy Penne recipe came about when Crock Posse Member Rhonda F. suggested adding sliced sausage to our Crock Pot Cheesy Rotini. The switch from rotini to penne was not out of a conscious decision, but out of necessity. The grocery store did not have rotini in stock, but they did have penne. So there ya have it! So no matter what pasta you want to try out or might be your favorite, I am guessing it will be a delicious treat for you and the ones you love!
This is a fun recipe for the kids to get involved with in the kitchen as well. My oldest is really showing an interest in learning how to cook. So he helped out with slicing the butter and placing it in the microwave (I still handle the controls, but I do let him place it in the microwave.)
What You Will Need
Ingredients Needed
- 2 cups half-and-half
- 10.75 oz can Cheddar cheese soup
- 1/2 cup butter melted
- 16 oz pkg Velveeta or half of a 32 oz pkg
- 28 oz rope sausage, sliced (2 – 14 oz pkgs)
- 16 oz box penne pasta cooked al dente
Equipment Needed
- Medium pot
- Colander or strainer (I love my on pot strainer)
- Measuring cup
- Sharp knife
- Butter knife
- Cutting board
- 6 quart slow cooker
Time Needed
- Prep Time: 15 minutes
- Cooking Time: 1.5 – 2.5 hours on low, stirring occasionally

Crock Pot Sausage Cheesy Penne
Ingredients
- 2 cups half-and-half
- 10.75 oz can Cheddar cheese soup
- 1/2 cup butter melted
- 16 oz pkg Velveeta or half of a 32 oz pkg
- 16 oz pkg penne pasta cooked al dente
- 28 oz traditional rope sausage sliced
Instructions
- Pour your half-and-half, soup and melted butter into your 6-quart crock pot and stir until your soup is mixed in completely
- Add in your remaining ingredients and stir
- Cover and cook on low for 1.5-2.5 hours (mine was done right around an hour and a half) until your cheese is melted, stirring occasionally
