How to Make Good Gravy Beef Stew in a Crock Pot
Aunt Lou here.
As usual, I was on a quest to figure out a new recipe idea to share with you, our dear readers. We absolutely love our series of Good Gravy recipes (Let’s all give a special shoutout to Momma for coming up with the base recipe!) One thing we had not made yet with this line of recipes was a stew. So, I pulled up one of our favorite crock pot stews. I melded these two recipes together to give you this amazing Good Gravy Crock Pot Beef Stew! It is so delicious!
When you put this recipe on, you are going to put your cheese on top. You will want to make sure none of your cheese is touching the edge of the insert. Once the cheese starts to melt, you will need to give it a stir. This will help your cheese melt more evenly and make it easier to stir into your stew. The results is the most amazing cooking juices you will ever taste in a stew! You are going to love it!
If you are sensitive to spicy foods, like myself, do not worry! There is enough liquid in this recipe to cut the heat from the pepper jack cheese. I am a self proclaimed wimp when it comes to spicy foods, and I love this recipe!
What You Will Need
Ingredients Needed
- 1 lb beef tips (The package will either say beef tips or beef stew meat.)
- 10.75 oz can beefy mushroom soup
- 10.75 oz can cream of mushroom soup
- 1 oz ranch dip mix
- 1 oz brown gravy mix packet
- 6 potatoes peeled and cubed
- 16 oz bag baby carrots
- 4 cups beef broth
- 14.5 oz can stewed tomatoes
- Pepper Jack Cheese
Equipment Needed
- Can opener
- Vegetable peeler
- Sharp knife
- Cutting board
- Measuring cup
- Stirring spatula
- 6 quart crock pot
Time Needed
- Prep Time: 10 minutes (It could take less time to prep if you can peel and cut up potatoes faster than I can!)
- Cooking Time: 6 to 8 hours on low (I don’t recommend cooking on high. Your beef will not be as tender if you cook on high.)
