Made this last night. My family Loved it. Personally I have never cared for roast till I made this recipe. Will be a staple in our home.
Your comment just makes my heart happy! I’m so glad your family enjoyed it…you included! Thank you for taking the time to let me know!
I don’t like mushrooms. What two cans could I use instead?
Hi Valerie!
I’m not a fan of mushrooms either. If you buy the generic cream of mushroom soup, the pieces are usually so small that you can’t tell they are there. As for substitutions, I haven’t tried it with any substitutions. You might try cream of celery soup and can of beef consomme. If you give it a try, let me know how it turns out!

Can i do this with a venison roast? Will the time cooked be different ?
Thanks!
Hi Kyleigh!
I haven’t tried this with a venison roast, but think it should work. I would watch it closely the first time you make it and check with a meat thermometer around the 4-6 hour mark. You will want to make sure you don’t dry it out. If you give it a try, let me know how it goes!

I did try it, cooked for 8 hours on low and was amazing!
I’m so glad to hear it!
THIS IS 5 STAR AWESOME!!! The gravy is SO DELICIOUS, Walter and I LOVED IT!! He has already ask me to make with other meats.
I’m so glad you guys loved it Kim! Momma comes up with the best recipes! You will love it with other meats too!

This recipe is the best pot roast I have ever had. I did have to change a few things such as I couldn’t find the beefy mushroom soup so I used golden mushroom instead. I did omit the cheese but it really didn’t need it. Throw everything in a crock pot, don’t even mix it up and it came out so delicious. This is definitely a keeper. FYI I used a 2.65 lb pot roast and it was done in 8 hours.
Great job making it your own Lin! That’s what Momma always does, and she comes up with amazing recipes like this one! I’m so glad you enjoyed it!

This recipe is the best ever……a new number one favorite….even better than Mississippi Pot Roast…..I made it with a rump roast as I did not see a chuck roast that I liked but will do a chuck roast next!!
I’m so glad you like this recipe! Momma is a genius in the kitchen, if you ask me! (I might be biased 😉 ) This is one of my favorite recipes she has come up with for sure! Thank you for your kind words!

This roast looks amazing but can you replace pepper jack cheese with Colby jack or Swiss?
