Around here, you know we love to cRock the pot. However, we are falling in love with our Instant Pot and Electric Pressure Cooker. (Don’t worry, we have crock pot versions of all of our Instant Pot Favorites as well. So you can cRock these recipes or use your Electric Pressure Cooker.) It takes a time or two sometimes for us to get the timing right when we are converting our favorite crock pot recipes into electric pressure cooker recipes, so slowly but surely, we are taking our favorite crock pot recipes and learning how to make them in an electric pressure cooker. So why use an electric pressure cooker when you have your trusty ol’ crock pot that we all love and adore? Do you ever forget to plan ahead? I know I sure do! I get up and start my day and have every intention of getting right to the recipe I want to make. However, life happens and before I know it, I don’t have 6-8 hours before dinner needs to be ready. Sound familiar? Well, that is where your electric pressure cooker can come to the rescue!

They are quiet too!
Just got my new Instant Pot and a friend of mine on Facebook shared your link to me. I love my crockpot…but now I have the Instant Pot…I am never going back if I can help it. I made beans and cornbread from dried to cooked in 55 minutes last night. Yeah, lol thats what I am talking about! I love your site and have already bookmarked so many recipes! Thank you for having “normal” food recipes! lol
On the Electric Pressure Cooker Chicken and Noodles you say you made it in a 6 qt one and not to make it in a smaller one. I have the 3 qt size. If I cut the recipe in 1/2 do you think it would work in my smaller instant pot? It is just my husband and I so we don’t need a lot of food. Thanks

When I use the instant pot to make hard boiled eggs, the white portion turns a strange unappetizing color. Any comments would be appreciated.

Hey Cris and Mike, loyal watcher here and I have a question about the Instant pots. HOw are they different from the ole pressure cookers ?? I keep looking at them but can’t figure out if there is a difference! Can you help ? thanks
Hi Chris!
They work similarly but the electric ones have a lot of preset features (i.e. rice cooker, soup setting, etc.), some feel they are safer and I do believe cooking times will likely vary a bit. Hope that helps!
I think that the difference is that they are programmed and require much less tending than the regular pressure cookers like our Grannies used. They are smart pressure cookers.
