How to Make Bacon Green Beans and Potatoes on a Stove Top
Aunt Lou here.
I grew up in a meat and potatoes kind of family. I am also very picky about what veggies I eat. Green beans and potatoes are two of my favorites. I have made them together in my crock pot in a variety of ways. This Bacon Green Beans and Potatoes recipe takes one of my favorite ways of making them together in my crock pot and shows you how to make it on your stove top.
This is a very simple and quick recipe, but it also gives you a wonderfully flavored side dish. The bacon, broth and garlic blend together to flavor your green beans and potatoes in a way that would make my Gramma proud. I hope you and your loved ones enjoy this as much as me and mine do!

Bacon Green Beans and Potatoes

- 4 large potatoes peeled and cubed

- 29 oz canned green beans undrained (2 – 14.5 oz cans)
- 2 cloves garlic minced
- 2 cups chicken broth
- salt and pepper to taste
Instructions
- Place all of your ingredients in a large sauce pan and stir until well combined.
- Cover with lid and bring to a boil over medium high heat.
- Reduce heat to low and simmer for 10 to 15 minutes, stirring occasionally. It is done when the potatoes are fork tender.
Notes
- If you haven’t ever used bacon in a recipe like this, you will want to note that it will not look the same as when you fry bacon. It won’t crisp up and get really dark in color like it does when you fry it. It will be soft and pink, but after cooking on the stove top for as long as it takes for your potatoes to soften up, it is indeed cooked. It just looks different than when fried.
