How to Make Sausage Green Beans and Potatoes on a Stove Top
Aunt Lou here.
You have probably heard the old saying, “The way to a man’s heart is through his stomach.” While that did work on my dear Michael, that does not mean he didn’t cook for me quite often while we were dating. This Sausage Green Beans and Potatoes stove top recipe was actually the first recipe he made for me, and it knocked my socks off!
When I say this recipe is tried and true, I mean it! Michael has been making it for me for over 10 years. He learned to make it from his Mamaw and Papaw (who were both excellent cooks). So, this is one of those recipes that has been passed down through my husband’s family for generations. It is that good! (You can find the crock pot recipe here and the instant pot recipe here.)
What You Will Need
Ingredients Needed
- 28 to 32 ounces of traditional rope sausage, sliced (I noticed that some of the packages are 14 oz while others are 16 oz. You will just need to use 2 packages.)
- 7 medium potatoes, peeled and cubed
- 60 oz Italian style green beans (4 15 oz cans)
- 1 small onion, chopped
- 1 teaspoon garlic salt
- 1/2 teaspoon ground black pepper
- red pepper to taste
Equipment Needed
- Sharp knife
- Cutting board
- Vegetable peeler
- Can opener
- Measuring spoons
- Wooden spoon or large serving spoon
- 8 quart stock pot
Time Needed
- Prep Time: 10 minutes or less (It depends on how quickly you can peel and cube potatoes! ๐ As for me, that means closer to the 10 minute mark!)
- Cooking Time: Approximately 20 minutes
