This is an enormous hit at my house! I have also used it with rabbit and it is just as well received!

I have made this recipe twice. The first, I couldn’t find the beefy mushroom soup. So, I used two cans of cream of mushroom soup instead. It was fantastic. My wife and I loved it. Cooked it on high for 4 hours.
The second time I made it with the beefy mushroom soup and cream of mushroom. Not nearly as good as the the first time. Cooked it on low for 8 hrs.
Both times used boneless, skinless chicken thighs. Served it over mashed potatoes.
Will definitely make again, but with two cans of cream of mushroom.
Aunt Lou says
I’m so glad you found a way to make this your own for you and your family to enjoy!
Debra A Santa cruz says
Can I use boneless skinless chicken thighs?
Aunt Lou says
Yes, but it might change the cooking time. Watch it closely the first time you make it. That way you can adjust the cooking time as needed. If you give it a try, let me know how it goes!
Berni says
OMG!!!! This was such a heavenly recipe!! I couldn’t find the beef mushroom soup so used golden mushroom. It was delicious 😋 I couldn’t stop eating the gravy 🤣 My husband found it wonderful too. The chicken just fell right off the bone. The cheese mixed wonderful with the other ingredients. This will definitely be a repeat recipe 🙂

I have made the recipe with beef. It was delicious! In this recipe, can you substitute a pkg of chicken gravy instead of beef gravy?
Aunt Lou says
I haven’t tried that substitution, but sounds like it could possibly be yummy! If you give it a try, let me know how it goes.

Any suggestions for time and temp?
Aunt Lou says
Hi Mick!
I have not tried making this in a dutch oven and do not have enough experience using a dutch oven to give you a good idea. If you give it a try, let me know how it goes!

I’m not a huge fan of bone-in chicken. I know it enhances the flavor to cook it that way but can I use boneless breasts in this recipe and get as good of results?
Aunt Lou says
Hi Lisa!
I haven’t tried this with boneless chicken, but think it would work just fine! If you give it a try, let me know how it turns out!

Omg this is a great recipe I made it today and it was so good. I modified it the my liking the only thing I did was I sautéed some onion, carrots, celery and fresh garlic. I also browned the chicken thighs before putting them into the crockpot, I added all the other ingredients that were listed and cooked on high for 3 1/2 hours and served with white rice and broccoli. Thanks for posting and Aunt Lou you are the best 🙌🏻🥰

Gail Plaskiewicz says
I’ve never heard of Beefy Mushroom Soup. I know you have recipes for the cream soups if we don’t want to use the cans but what about this? I hate Ranch. Could I just leave it out? This sounds so good! I just bought some cheese that I am going to shred that would be so good in this! We have some chicken but it’s boneless. Could I sub that for the chicken with the bone or do I have to buy chicken?
Aunt Lou says
Hi Gail!
I’m afraid substituting the soup and leaving out the ranch would probably change the flavor quite a bit. Have you tried our Pepper Jack Chicken yet? It might be something you would enjoy. A ton of our readers love it. (Links below)

KARI says
We don’t care for spicy foods. Does the pepper jack cheese make it really spicy? Which other cheese could be used? And do I use any pc of boned of chicken, or does one pc work better than another?
Aunt Lou says
Hi Kari!
I am such a wimp when it comes spicy foods and didn’t even know there was pepper jack cheese in it until momma told me what was in it! (I think she had me try it first because she knew I would be scared of the pepper jack cheese! lol) I used bone-in thighs and it turned out great!
Enjoy!
Aunt Lou
Kari says
Awesome!! Ty so much. I only have 1 dish I make that calls for thighs, not a huge fan of those either, but in this dish…oh my!!! Delish. I might try some legs in there as well.
Aunt Lou says
You are quite welcome Kari! Let me know what you think once you’ve made it!
Enjoy!
Aunt Lou
Biggie Chinx says
This looks FANTASTIC!! Can’t wait to try it. Wondering what else you could use this with instead of chicken. =]
Aunt Lou says
I have been thinking the same thing Biggie Chinx! Stay tuned in the coming months for different variations of this. It is SO good that I definitely want to try it different ways!
