How to Make Steak Potato Stew in a Slow Cooker
Aunt Lou here.
I love an easy recipe. Anyone else? When life is chaotic or our schedules all thrown out the window, sometimes you just need an easy recipe. Something simple in the middle of the whirlwind. This Crock Pot Steak Potato Stew can help you with just that!
This recipe came about when one of our readers, Ryan, commented on our Crock Pot Steak Soup saying potatoes sounded good in this. I agreed and decided to give it a try. Great idea Ryan! Yum!
Not only is this an easy recipe, it is a recipe that is enjoyed by young and old alike! My little kids love it and so does my big kid. lol
Slow Cooker Steak Potato Stew Notes:
- This is a quick cooking recipe. If you need a longer cook time, use 4 cups of Russet potatoes cut into larger pieces.
- If you have leftover roast or stew meat, you could use those in place of the cut up meat.
- The reason I call this a stew is because the starches from the potatoes really thicken up the juices.
- I used my Insulated 6-quart Slow Cooker for this recipe. You can use your favorite slow cooker. However, if you are looking for a new slow cooker, I highly recommend this one. I have been using it constantly for about 6 years or so. It is my go-to slow cooker for anything from soups to roasts to baking to casseroles. I know it cooks evenly, and it has the added bonus of the insulated base that keeps my little ones (and lets just be perfectly honest, myself! lol) from getting burned by just touching the exterior.

This looks delicious. Can avacodo oil be used and what can be used in place of the Worcestershire sauce?
Hi Brandy!
I haven’t tried this with avocado oil or a substitute for Worcestershire sauce. If you prefer avocado oil, I think that will work. One substitute for Worcestershire sauce is soy sauce. I am not sure how these substitutions will change the taste. If you do this, let me know how it turns out!
