  1. Fairly new to this community. With recent food cost rising do you have recipes that do double duty. Ex: cooking extra chicken one day to be added to a meal later in the week. I am constantly trying to find recipes to do this and I try very hard to meal plan. I look forward to getting more involved in this community. ๐Ÿค—

  2. I have almost given up doing chicken in my crockpot. We really don’t like the texture. Breasts especially just feel over-cooked. Do you have any recommendations to avoid this problem? We like to have more of a shredded chicken feel and not pulverized!

    1. Hi Melody-
It sounds like your chicken is overcooking. Many slow cookers today cook a lot hotter than older pots. Also a lot of slow cookers are too big for the amount of food. They cook most evenly when they are 2/3 full. Anytime you are cooking a chicken dish that doesn’t fill the pot over 1/2 way full at least, it will cook a lot faster than if it was filled all the way up (especially in the hotter new models). Most of the time the easy fix is just to cook for a shorter period of time. It is important to learn how your slow cooker cooks (they all cook a little different) each new recipe by cooking it first when you can watch it closely and noting the time. For example, yesterday I whipped up a batch of our Shredded Chicken in a new slow cooker and noticed that at hour 4 the chicken was completely done and perfectly ready to shred. That recipe usually takes around 6-7 hours in my other slow cookers but if I had left it cooking for 6 hours in my new one like that it would have turned to a chalky mess.
