Meal Planning on a Budget

Aunt Lou here.

This week is all about the cans, folks! A while back one of our wonderful readers emailed us and asked if we could make some recipes with canned meats and canned veggies. I had not really ever cooked with canned meats prior to this (maybe once or twice in my life) and was excited to try it out. The results were some really awesome recipes that were super nice to my grocery bill.

Another great thing about using canned foods in the recipes for our menu this week is that you might be able to use cans that are sitting in your pantry right now and not even have to spend extra on them! I love it when I go to make my grocery list and find that I already have things I need just waiting to be used in my cabinets or pantry.

While the Homemade Crock Pot Bread on Thursday isn’t a canned food, you just might find that you already have the ingredients in your cabinets. Besides, doesn’t a crusty bread go great with soup?! It is one of my favorite combos. I hope you enjoy these recipes and find that you have many of the ingredients already at your home.
