How to Make Apple Pop Tart Caramel Dump Cake in a Crock Pot

Aunt Lou here.

My dear readers, I have loved each of the Pop Tart Dump Cakes I have made. They are so yummy and diverse. I have taken at least part of each one of them down to Camp Lou-da-Cris (our family campground). This weekend I made this Crock Pot Apple Pop Tart Caramel Dump Cake while everyone was at camp. The consensus around the campfire was that this recipe right here tops them all. Can you believe there wasn’t a single piece left for me to bring home?! 😉 The caramel and the apples are divine together. The extra bit of sweet from the Crisp Apple Pop Tart crust was amazing. I hope you love this one just as much as we did.

What You Will Need

Ingredients Needed

  • 6 crisp apple pop tarts
  • 42 oz apple pie filling (2 -21 oz cans)
  • 11 oz bag caramel baking bits (These can be found in the baking aisle at the grocery store near the bags of chocolate chips, butterscotch chips, etc.)
  • 1 white cake mix, not prepared
  • 1/2 cup butter, cut into pats (You may use a little more or a little less depending on how your pats come out. You want enough thin pats to cover your entire dump cake.)

Equipment Needed

  • Can opener
  • Scissors (Optional: These are only used if you want an easier way to open your cake mix bag.)
  • Butter knife
  • Cutting board
  • Stirring spatula
  • Casserole Crock Pot or 6 quart Crock Pot

Time Needed

  • Prep Time: 5 minutes
  • Cooking Time: 2 hours on high, turning crock pot insert halfway through cooking if your crock pot does not cook evenly
